Georgia Tech Has String Of Marquee Games Against Florida State, Virginia Tech and Georgia

Georgia Tech’s struggles continued last weekend during their loss to the Pittsburgh Panthers, as a late record-setting field goal extended the Yellow Jackets’ losing streak to five games.

Pittsburgh kicker Chris Blewitt hit a 56-yard field goal, a Pitt school record, with 1:11 remaining and Georgia Tech’s QB Justin Thomas couldn’t engineer a late drive to begin the turnaround for Georgia Tech’s season. The Yellow Jackets are enduring their longest losing streak since 1994 and it is not getting any easier with a matchup against the Florida State Seminoles on Saturday.

Florida State is one of the two teams vying to finish first in the Atlantic side of the ACC and is a perfect 6-0 with a 4-0 conference record. The Seminoles have one of the best running backs in the country in Dalvin Cook, who has rushed for 955 yards and 10 touchdowns on 110 attempts this season. Seminoles quarterback, Everett Golson, who transferred from Notre Dame, has yet to throw an interception this season.

The Yellow Jackets are going to need their best effort of the season; similar to the last time they played the Seminoles. In last year’s ACC Championship Game, the Yellow Jackets gave the Seminoles everything they had and then some, and were one play away from ending Florida State’s winning streak. Thomas threw a touchdown pass to Darren Waller with less than two minutes remaining but couldn’t convert on the two-point conversion in a thrilling shootout. The Seminoles moved onto the first-ever College Football Playoff with the 37-35 victory, led by No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft Jameis Winston and his RB counterpart Cook, who was named the game’s MVP.

On the secondary market, Georgia Tech tickets have an average price of $151.04 for the game against Florida State. The Yellow Jackets have prominent home games against ACC Coastal-rival Virginia Tech and in-state rival Georgia remaining and the average ticket prices are $71.02 and $177.70 respectively. Tickets through the Georgia Tech website start from as low as $40 for the game against the Hokies on Thursday night, November 12th, in front of a nationally televised audience on ESPN.

Even in a down season, Georgia Tech’s recent success and offensive style proposes a threat to any team. Head coach Paul Johnson can have the Yellow Jackets ready to take down any opponent and will have plenty of marquee opportunities during the final weeks of the regular season. Given his track record of success, it is not a stretch to expect the Jackets to have at least one major upset in their future.
