Hayden Moore beats out Gunner Kiel for Cincinnati’s starting QB job

The saga of Gunner Kiel has taken another interesting turn. After being the number one pro style QB prospect in the class of 2013, he transferred from Notre Dame to Cincinnati. At Cincinnati he’s been up and down and has battled some injuries.

In 2014, he completed 59% of his passes for 3254 yards with 31 TD against 13 INT. 2015 was not as kind as he played in 10 games and completed 65% of his passes for 2777 yards but his TD to INT ratio took a hit as he threw 19 TD to 11 INT.

Now a senior, Kiel has apparently been beaten out at QB by a sophomore…..

University of Cincinnati signal caller Hayden Moore (Clay, Ala./Clay-Chalkville) has been named the Bearcats starting quarterback, Head Coach Tommy Tuberville announced Monday.

“Hayden was our most consistent quarterback from spring football all the way through training camp,” Tuberville said. “He gives us the best chance to win right now. Gunner Kiel and Ross Trail will continue to battle for the backup QB spot, but it’s important all three be ready to play when we kick this thing off in 10 days. It’s important to us to name a starter now so Hayden has some time working exclusively with the first-team offense to continue to develop timing and a comfort level with our offensive skill players.”
