Notes and Observations
- As always, please note that these rankings are fluid and will change from week to week.
- Alabama solidified its position atop the poll, picking up two first-place votes after throttling Kent State 48-0.
- Ohio State and Louisville each dropped a first-place vote, but remained second and third, respectively. That will certainly change this weekend, as the Cardinals face No. 5 Clemson on Saturday.
- Although they didn’t earn any “style points” with the national media, the Tigers did pick up two points on Houston with a solid win over Georgia Tech on Thursday night.
- Tennessee made the biggest jump in the poll, moving up to No. 11 after being unranked last week. The Vols’ fantastic second half apparently eased our voters’ concerns about their performance over the first three weeks of the season.
- Wisconsin moved up to No. 7 after an impressive win over Michigan State. The Badgers could move into the top 5 with a win over Michigan, which is currently sixth in our rankings.
- Despite its win against Arizona, Washington dropped from No. 8 to No. 10. It could move back up with a “W” over Stanford, which fell one spot after a narrow victory over UCLA.
