Notes and Observations

  • As always, remember that these rankings are fluid, and will change from week-to-week until all of the games are in the books.
  • Although Alabama received the most first-place votes (2), the Crimson Tide share the No. 1 ranking with Clemson, which moved up from No. 5 after its impressive win over Louisville.
  • Ohio State dropped from No. 2 to No. 3 this week. But, don’t worry Buckeye fans, Phil Harrison has some good news for you in his latest assessment of the team.
  • Houston also dropped two spots in the rankings, even though it beat UConn convincingly on Thursday night.
  • Of course, the Cougars still have an opportunity for another signature win since the Cardinals only dropped to No. 7.
  • By virtue of its 44-6 win over Stanford, Washington moved up all the way to No. 4 this week. The Huskies also picked up a first-place vote, while the Cardinal dropped out of the top 16.
  • Michigan slides up one spot to No. 5 after defeating Wisconsin 14-7. The Badgers fell from No. 7 to No. 10.
  • Boise State, Baylor, and North Carolina each moved into the rankings this week, holding the final three spots in the poll.
  • Nebraska was the most polarizing team in this week’s standings, appearing as high as No. 9 on one ballot, while omitted from two other ballots altogether.
