There are no plans to expand College Football Playoff to six or eight teams

Year one of the College Football Playoff was a rousing success but it remains to be seen how year two does with the semi-finals set to be played on New Years Eve.

There is still a lot of debate on whether or not to expand the College Football Playoff to include more teams after the Big 12 was shut out of the inaugural event.

Here’s what the College Football Playoff executive director, Bill Hancock, had to say about a possible expansion….

I’m not hearing the drum within our business. I’m hearing it from journalists. I think we need to give this a chance. It’s such a remarkable new innovation for the game. There is no talk in our group of expanding.

For those hoping to see the number of teams expanding…it doesn’t look like it’s on the radar yet. It’s going to take a big name team or conference (or both) getting left on the outside looking in.
