We will have coverage of the World University Games, which start next month, here at TSS, and the first bit of news is not good for Team USA (or the Kansas Jayhawks) as sophomore to be Devonte Graham injured his quad in a camp game yesterday.
Graham will not need surgery, but he will have to have his knee immobilized for three weeks, which will take him out of the entire World University Games. This is the second long term injury Graham has suffered in as many seasons, as he missed a large chunk of Kansas’s nonconference season with a toe injury last season.
Graham had a good freshman year for the Jayhawks despite the injury, scoring 5.7 points per game and dishing out 2.1 assists per game. He also finished the season with over a 100 offensive rating and had the seventh best assist rate in the Big 12.
Bill Self said Kansas will try to replace Graham with a guard from another team, but added they haven’t talked to anyone. Kansas has already added SMU’s Nic Moore to its backcourt.
