End of an Error: With Oliver Purnell Gone What’s Next for DePaul?

The Oliver Purnell era is over at DePaul. This comes to the surprise to no one with a fully functioning brain. Purnell’s Blue Demons have been cellar-dwellers in most of his years with the program, with the only exception being this season, when the team was in first place of the Big East Conference — for […]

Big East Conference Tournament Preview

About a year ago the word on the mean streets of Twitter had the Big East Conference six feet underground. It was dead they said, with an emphasis on their demise being put on the lack of depth in the league. Fast-forward and things have changed a bit. It is assumed that at-least five Big […]

Is The Jim Boeheim National Love-Fest Over?

Depending on your allegiances, belief system or feelings for a certain individual, you either think the Syracuse Orange got hammered by the NCAA or received little more than a slap on the wrist. Regardless, with Syracuse not being eligible for this year’s postseason; losing three scholarships a year over four years; and Jim Boeheim being […]

NJIT’s Feel-Good Story Is Masking Some Unpleasant Truths

In one of the better and more heartwarming stories of the college basketball season, the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has been invited to play in its first Division I postseason tournament, the CIT. The CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament, which is like the distant, non-blood relative to the NCAA Tournament and only cousins with the NIT […]

The Rasheed Sulaimon Sexual Assault Accusations Reveal An Ugly Truth

Thanks to some great reporting from the Duke Chronicle, more and more information is coming to the light concerning Rasheed Sulaimon being accused of sexually assaulting two different women. The details that have been reported are troubling, confusing to some, and are part of a situation that should be played out over the course of a […]

A Memo To Memphis: Potential Should Trump Josh Pastner’s Current Woes

The mean streets of Twitter had some fun at the expense of Memphis Tigers coach Josh Pastner recently. Terms like “Pastner’d” were used and everyone had a solid giggle. The attempts at humor had a lot to do with a growing thought that the young coach isn’t exactly brilliant drawing up the X-and-Os and the fact […]

Everyone Calm Down About Calming Down Kevin Stallings

Fire, passion and visceral reactions are things we want from people in our sports. Well, that is until we don’t like the immediate noises and sounds that come from our picture-box. The latest example/fiasco/pretend scandal is Kevin Stallings yelling at one of his players and screaming curse words. The curse words are important here. Stallings’ “I […]

So What If Gonzaga Gets a One Seed?

With Selection Sunday closing in on us, the college basketball community confronts a discussion it doesn’t get in December or early January: seeding. This is when media, fans and bracketologists tell us where each team should be ranked, against whom, and in what part of the country. Truly a fun time of the year. Despite the […]

Rick Pitino and Louisville made The American a much stronger league in 2014 compared to the current 2015 version. Sure, SMU leads the conference this season, but it achieved a lot more in the 2014 campaign. Why is 2015 SMU’s RPI at 18 while last season’s team carried an RPI of 53 into Selection Sunday? The answer becomes very obvious as you continue to read this piece… and no, it’s not about winning games, either.

An Uncomfortable Conversation: The Mess At Louisville Involving Rick Pitino and Chris Jones

The reason for the dismissal of Chris Jones from the Louisville basketball program is now public, and it isn’t very pretty. According to multiple reports, Jones — who had some issues in the past — texted threats to a woman because she messed up his room. Because of this incident, Jones was dismissed from the program […]

Fill In The Blank: Playing Kentucky in Basketball is Unsafe As…….

The Kentucky Wildcats have turned out to be pretty good at hurling a basketball toward the general direction of a hoop this season. They have also managed to be even better at stopping their opponents from doing that same exact thing. All this is not incredibly surprising considering John Calipari lands — approximately — eleventy-billion […]

Rick Barnes and the Perplexing Texas Situation

We have, apparently, officially reached the point in the season when job security will become an issue at multiple programs. No, there is no need to worry about your favorite master fresh-fry dispenser. Rather, it has a little more to do with the leader of free labor young men in college basketball — which brings us […]

The Big 12’s problem is that it doesn’t merely have one problem. The league has to make numerous adjustments, from non-conference scheduling to the conference title game issue to the split-championship issue which did not help the league’s cause. Oh, and the league might want to consider expanding IF the 12-team requirement for conference title games is upheld in April.

Conferences Would Bite Their Nose to Spite Their Face with Freshmen Ineligibility

The NCAA is widely considered the big bad beast of ineptness in the realm of college sports. Not only is it trendy to pick on all things governing-body related, it is expected if you care about anything that deals with their fictional ideal of amateurism that you pile on them as often as possible. However, […]
