Notes and Observations

  • As always, remember that this poll is fluid, and will change from week to week.
  • North Dakota State remains atop the poll. The Bison received all four first place votes.
  • For the second straight week, Eastern Washington was the unanimous choice at No. 2.
  • South Dakota State re-enters the poll at No. 10 this weekend after throttling Western Illinois 52-14. The Leathernecks dropped out of the poll, but did receive 8 points in the voting this week.
  • Sam Houston State moves into the dreaded third spot in this week’s rankings. Why is it “dreaded”? The team that finished third in the rankings has lost in each of the past four weeks. However, the Bearkats shouldn’t have any trouble with Incarnate Word this weekend.
  • Charleston Southern jumped from No. 10 to No. 5 after defeating Coastal Carolina 59-58 in double overtime. The Buccaneers won the game by blocking a PAT on the final play of the contest.
  • Chattanooga remains the most polarizing team in the rankings. Two voters placed the Mocs in the top 5, while the other two did not list them in the top 10.
