Notes and Observations
- As always, remember that these standings are fluid, and will change from week-to-week.
- Alabama was the consensus pick at number 1 for the second straight week. The Crimson Tide is playing better than anyone in the country right now, and has a two-game lead over the rest of college football.
- Our panel had differing opinions about the second spot in the rankings. Ohio State and Washington each received two votes, while Clemson received one. However, the Buckeyes ended up second because two voters placed the Huskies at No. 6.
- Of course, UW wasn’t the most polarizing team in the poll. That “honor” goes to Penn State for the second straight week. Three voters listed the Nittany Lions in the top 10, while two others left them off the ballot altogether.
- Houston re-entered the rankings this week after throttling Louisville last Thursday. Let the rumors of Tom Herman to LSU, Texas, and every other coaching vacancy begin…
- Florida also reappeared in the poll this week thanks to a hard-fought win over LSU. The win not only clinched a berth in the SEC Championship game, it probably earned the Gators an invite to the Sugar Bowl.
