Baylor’s monster tight end LaQuan McGowan caught national attention last season when he caught a touchdown pass against Michigan State. Which four teams will be in the College Football Playoff?

After this week, the college football regular season will be at the half-way point. Now is a good time to look at which four teams will be in the College Football Playoff at the end of the season. Based on how the season has played out and looking at the rest of the schedule, who […]

Urban Meyer, a superstar head coach and a national figure in college football, spoke at Big Ten Media Days on Monday in Chicago. Big Ten Network did not provide live coverage of his session with the media. ESPN deserves plenty of criticism for how it elevates the SEC and undercuts the levels of exposure it gives to conferences such as the ACC and Big 12. However, when BTN can’t provide live coverage of Meyer, Mark Dantonio, and the coaches of its other big-name programs, the collection of factors that feed into conference bias becomes a lot more complicated. It’s not just about ESPN loving the SEC too much; it’s about BTN and Pac-12 Networks being markedly inadequate when covering their own conferences. Conference bias is, in other words, a two-way street and a multi-source problem. ESPN’s competitors have to do a better job.

ESPN’s College Football Playoff Nightmare

ESPN is paying $470 million annually to broadcast the College Football Playoff, and it’s safe to say the Worldwide Leader made out pretty well in year one of the deal. The inaugural field featured two of college football’s bluest bloods representing the SEC and Big Ten in Alabama and Ohio State. Defending national champion Florida […]

No Line Needed: Five Blind College Football Bets for 2015

I normally don’t make a habit of mimicking anything that ESPN radio host Colin Cowherd does. A few years back, though, he started doing an annual bit in which he would pick sides on a few college football games in the offseason well in advance of the release of point spreads. I thought it was a […]
