Jacoby Brissett, Wolfpack snatch victory from the jaws of defeat

We all remember Georgia Southern’s historic upset of Florida last season. Could the Eagles pull off another one this year when they traveled to Raleigh to play North Carolina State?

NCAA Football: Georgia Southern at North Carolina State

The Eagles took the lead early and held onto it until very late in the fourth quarter when QB Jacoby Brissett hit Matt Dayes on a 35 yard TD pass to put the Pack in the lead for the first time with just 1:37 left in the game.

Brissett was playing in his first game since November of 2012 when he was the back-up quarterback for the Florida Gators, and he looked very rusty in the first half. He settled down in the second half as he finished with 291 yards passing with 3 touchdowns. His performance in the fourth quarter was tremendous as he completed ten passes in a row at one point.

Brissett helped N.C. State do what his former team could not do last year, even though it looked very bleak at times as the Eagles seemed to have the game won multiple times. For N.C. State, it will be interesting to see where the Wolfpack goes from here. The team now must face an Old Dominion offense that is almost the exact opposite of what it faced this week.

One thing is for sure, the text messages between Brissett and some of his former teammates should be interesting this week.
