When will FBS teams stop underestimating North Dakota State?

North Dakota State might be the best kept secret in college football, although we’re not sure why.  The Bison have 11 national championships and have won three straight FCS national championships. During those three years they have gone 43-2.

Coming into today’s game against Iowa State, the Bison had won four straight games against FBS competition:

2010 – beat Kansas, 6-3

2011 – beat Minnesota, 37-24

2012 – beat Colorado State, 22-7

2013 – beat Kansas State, 24-21

But for some reason, FBS athletic directors keep scheduling them. Vegas even underestimated the Bison this year. Iowa State was the favorite going into the game.

Maybe with coach Craig Bohl moving to Wyoming this off-season, things would change and NDSU wouldn’t be the power it had been under his watch.

Yeah, not so much.

The Bison came into Ames and took the fight to the Cyclones. It was close early with Iowa State taking an early 14-7 lead but after that it was all Bison. They scored 27 consecutive points to close the game and won, 34-14.

So who’s next on the Bison hit-list? A date with Iowa in 2016. After today’s performance the Hawkeyes might want to try to get out of that game.
