Oklahoma looks to build off victory over Kansas as Big XII Tournament tips off

The Phillips 66 Big 12 men’s conference tournament tips off this week in Kansas City with the Oklahoma Sooners looking to build off their thrilling two-point victory over the Big 12 regular season champion Kansas Jayhawks.

The Sooners’ Buddy Hield tipped in a missed layup with 0.2 seconds remaining to close the door on the Jayhawks. Oklahoma has a first round bye in the conference tournament, and will play on March 12th against their in-state rival Oklahoma State. The Sooners won both meetings against the Cowboys this season.

According to TotallyTickets.com, the average price for Oklahoma Sooners tickets for their first round game on March 12th is $193.36 with a walk-in price of $77. This includes a second game involving Iowa State and their opponent, whom is still to be determined. The semifinals have an average ticket price of $258.25 with a walk-in price of $124.

After becoming the first Sooner to lead the Big 12 in scoring since 2008-09, junior guard Buddy Hield has been named the Big 12 Player of the Year. Hield’s 17.4 points per game was the best in the league for all games played, while his 18.5-point average also ranked first in conference competition. He ranked in the top 15 in rebounding (5.5 rpg), field goal percentage (.424), free throw shooting (.804) and steals (43). The junior has scored in double figures in all but one Big 12 game, including 20 points or more eight times. Hield is the second Sooner (Blake Griffin, 2008-09) to earn Big 12 Player of the Year honors, per Big12Sports.com.

If the Sooners were to win their first game, they would face the winner of Iowa State vs. Texas or Texas Tech.
