SEC Ranked Matchups Reign Supreme During College Football’s Third Week

Through the first two weeks of the college football season, there have been different teams and conferences stealing the headlines early on. With Ohio State showing a glimpse of their capabilities during Week 1, and Michigan State winning the most important out-of-conference matchup of the weekend against Oregon from the Pac 12 last Saturday, the Big 10 has stood out thus far.

But Week 3 of the college football season is ready to be headlined by the toughest conference in from top to bottom, the SEC, sporting three of the four most expensive college football tickets on the secondary market, according to TiqIQ.com. Below is a breakdown of the most expensive games, dates and opponents for a couple of games slated for this weekend.

9/19/2015 | LSU Tigers vs. Auburn Tigers | Tigers Stadium | Average Price: $185.47 | Get-in Price: $73

9/19/2015 | Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Mississippi Rebels | Bryant-Denny Stadium | Average Price: $181.78 | Get-in Price: $92

9/19/2015 | Georgia Bulldogs vs. South Carolina Gamecocks | Sanford Stadium | Average Price: $172.16 | Get-in Price: $73

9/19/2015 | Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Pittsburgh Panthers | Kinnick Stadium | Average Price: $166.10 | Get-in Price: $71

After squeaking out a close two-point victory on the road at Mississippi State, LSU takes on a quality opponent for the second straight week when they host the Auburn Tigers. Auburn needs to win the confidence of the nation back after last week’s near season-ending loss to Jacksonville State… there would have been no bouncing back from that if not for their late comeback, en route to winning in overtime.

Next up with the second most expensive tickets of the weekend is the No. 2-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide playing host to the Mississippi Rebels. The Alabama defense will be tested against the Rebels’ high-powered offense, as Ole Miss has averaged almost 75 points per game in their first two victories.

The SEC continues to appear at the third most expensive spot, as the Georgia Bulldogs look for a quality home win against Steve Spurrier’s South Carolina Gamecocks. Georgia can sustain their status as contenders if they take care of business at Sanford Stadium, while Spurrier will look to turn around his team’s projection after their early-season loss to Texas A&M.

No one can go to every big time college football game, which is where DISH TV packages come into play. Working around any fan’s budget, programs like the SEC Network and ESPN GamePlan can be at any fan’s disposal to catch every big game as the season strides along towards the second annual College Football Playoff.

Other conferences need love, too, and the Big 10 and ACC have an out-of-conference matchup that will eliminate one team from joining the CFP. Iowa hosts Pittsburgh with an average ticket price of $166.10 and a get-in price of $71.
